Hangtown Holiday Ice Rink skates into town
“We’re almost past the fundraising stage,” said Bridgett Hartshorn, director of the Hangtown Holiday Ice Rink Committee, “and we’re committed to making this happen. Now we’re implementing our ideas.” The idea, developed by the Placerville Drive Business Association, is to have an ice-skating rink at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds for three weeks — Dec. 14 to Jan. 5.
Turning good ideas into action takes actively involved people and the PDBA is holding a community meeting at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2 in front of the Forni Building at the fairgrounds, where the ice rink will be located, to inform the community and enlist some volunteers.
“We are having a gala for the opening on Dec. 14 and a New Year’s Eve ball drop on Dec. 31, and we could use help from people who like to plan events,” said Hartshorn.
Vendors, crafters, people to help decorate the grounds or plan theme nights and anyone who might want to become involved in making the ice rink happen are encouraged to attend the informational meeting.
