CREPES ANYONE ?!'?!
Shingle Springs, CA, Temperature 74 degrees, 7 :00 AM not a cloud in the sky. While driving to my office I noticed a Grand Opening sign at a small shopping center located at the intersection of Ponderosa and Mother Lode Drive. Having risen earlier and not eaten, I decided to give this once obscure corner a try. I had no expectations of a review as I was hungry and only wanted to fill the void as Breakfast still is one of the most important meals of the day, besides I was grumpy, hungry, and not as of yet, had my coffee, and it's pretty hard to screw up bacon and eggs.
The decor of "CrepeTown" is pleasant to the eye, and seating arrangements comfortable. I could see that the Owners, "Eddie & Alma Zildzo" have an artistic eye for detail and have gone to great lengths to redecorate the interior of their restaurant. Of particular interest is a Court Yard dining area at the entrance with a Water Fountain.
This area is shaded from the sun by large tree with a brick patio. It‘s a great place to watch the world go by while eating. While the restaurant is pleasant, it is still very functional and straight forward, without sacrificing eye appeal. The place sparkles with cleanliness. This is a place to relax, and leave the cares of the outside world at the door.
Enough of the lovemaking, lets‘ see and taste the Menu of "CREPETOWN". I ordered a Crepe, thinking I would get Scrambled Eggs. I was pleasantly surprised to get a terrific repast consisting of a Crepe so light it's as if it was prepared from Angel Wings. The garnish was just right not to much and not overpowering, The Coffee must have been prepared European style with a press, and was great, I had two (2) cups. They have a very discernable talent for food and turn the ordinary into delicious delight
By no stretch of the imagination am I a epicurean of renown, however, I do know what taste good, and this Bistro I would rate four (4) stars:
l *) Cleanliness; a must ' '
2*) Service; immediate no waiting to be waited on.
3*) Decor; the Fountain and the Court Yard eating area, definitely
4*) Food; light (yet filling), Tasty & Delicious
5*) Prices; reasonable (OOPS that's 5 Stars}
I first found this place by happen stance, I can assure it will be on my permanent list as a definite, for continued visits! !
In the future, I will be visiting other eating establishments within El Dorado County and review one a week. If you have a particular place that you frequent then share it with me, along with your findings, LETS EAT! !
