Fire board approves cash-flow loan and rejects consolidation talks
... The (El Dorado County Fire Protection District) board decided to put aside, for now, a request by the Diamond Springs Fire Department to consider consolidation discussions.
Hardy reported the Request for Proposal to Cal Fire to have them take over the duties of the district is still in committee in Sacramento. He said he and the district’s CPA, Michael Ocenosak, met with Cal Fire’s finance people because of questions about the district’s budget and lack of reserves. “I expect a decision from them soon,” said the chief.
Hardy also reported on the Request for Information issued by the JPA to potentially have another entity run the ambulance service in the county. So far no decision has been reached, he added, saying that four or five months ago members of the JPA thought they were $750,000 to $1 million in debt and instead now are $85,000 to the good. “We are doing a lot of things right that are starting to show up in the budget,” he said.
