Fatal Motorcycle Crash Dampened Mood at Biggest "Kacie's Ride for Hope"
Event founder Pat Barron wrote, "I have not been real responsive yet today ... Yesterday was an amazing day, Kacie's Ride Showed up the Biggest ever!!! Also My heart is very deeply saddened knowing of an accident that occurred, during the day ..." Later he announced that a memorial fund set up in the name of Mr. Lynn Woolery at the 49er Federal Credit Union at 225 Placerville Dr.
Lynn Woolery, 67, of El Dorado Hills, was driving his yellow 2008 Yamaha westbound on Mormon Immigrant Trail east of Sly Park Road between 30 and 40 mph when he continued forward instead of rounding a curve. He drove off the paved portion of the road onto the dirt shoulder, continuing on until the motorcycle hit a dirt culvert and overturned. The driver and passenger were ejected off the motorcycle. CHP Officer Quinn Cuthbertson noted the crash, which happened at about 1 p.m., was part of Kacie’s Ride.
Lynn Woolery sustained blunt force trauma to the chest, abdomen and pelvis, resulting in fatal injuries. El Dorado County Fire Division Chief Mike Pott noted he died prior to being transported by helicopter. The passenger, Sara Woolery, 56, sustained “visible abrasions to her left arm and left hand and pain to her right shoulder,” the press release stated. She was taken to Marshall Hospital, Pott said.
Pat Barron, founder and CEO of Kacie’s Ride, said, “It was very tragic and it hurts me deeply.” He “cannot stop thinking about it.” He noted that “there has been a memorial fund set up in the name of Mr. Lynn Woolery at the 49er Federal Credit Union at 225 Placerville Dr.
