The Hangtown Kennel Club of Placerville is sponsoring its sixth annual Rattlesnake Avoidance Clinic to take place on June 23 and 24 in the Placerville area.
Since rattlesnakes have a unique smell, a distinct look and a very distinguishable sound, training a dog to recognize it in each of these senses gives the dog triple protection in learning to stay far away from the snake. Rattlesnakes are common in El Dorado County. Treatment is extremely costly, and their bite if left untreated is often fatal to dogs.
For more information on the clinic, visit the Hangtown Kennel Club website at hangtownkc.org, or call Cathy Keeler at 530-622-6909 between 6 and 10 p.m. Registration will close June 18. Because appointments fill quickly, you are encouraged to act soon to reserve a space for your dog.
