Shingle Springs Health & Wellness Center: Healthcare for the whole family
When it comes to choosing the right healthcare provider, the doctors and staff at the Shingle Springs Health & Wellness Center know patients aren’t only concerned about themselves — they’re also concerned about their families. That’s why the Shingle Springs Health & Wellness Center is committed to providing personalized, compassionate, high-quality care for the whole family and is proud to accept most insurance, including Medicare and Medi-Cal.
Opened in October 2011, the Shingle Springs Health & Wellness Center, which is run by the Shingles Springs Band of Miwok Indians, is a beautiful brand new 60,000-square-foot clinic located on Red Hawk Parkway just across from Red Hawk Casino. The center replaced the old 17,000-square-foot facility on Mother Lode Drive and offers three floors of medical, dental and administrative offices, and has room to expand for future growth. Currently, the center offers all aspects of ambulatory medical care as well as family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, orthopedics, physical therapy, podiatry, chiropractic, dentistry, orthodontics and mental health. It’s all just part of the center’s effort to provide the best possible care to the community.
“A common misconception is that we are only open to Native Americans,” said Ernest Vargas, tribal administrator for the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians. “We are open to the general public, and we treat everyone with great respect and care.”

The Shingle Springs Tribal Health Program was established in 1995 to serve both Native and non-Native patients. The program is one of only a few in the county to care for the underserved Medi-Cal and Medicare populations, and also accepts most major insurance. In October 2011, the Shingle Springs Health & Wellness Center opened on the Rancheria offering a wide range of services including pediatrics, primary care, dental, behavioral health and other specialties.
