Opinion - Fire Tax protects cities not forced to pay
Gosh I am so glad the state legislators are illegally taxing me with the Rural Fire Tax collected by the thugs at the State Board of Equalization. I am so happy now that Cal Fire has enough money to protect towns that don’t have to pay, like the Rim Fire near Hetch Hetchy reservoir that supplies pristine mountain water to the city of San Francisco and town of Clayton in Contra Costa County right next to the Mount Diablo blaze that is forcing evacuations.
I mean as a noble rural Californian, I feel privileged to support those in need. I think I will donate what I have left to the folks at “Restore Hetch Hetchy,” a nonprofit organization seeking to drain the Hetch Hetchy reservoir in Yosemite National Park and restore the valley to its original natural order.
