Planners forward marijuana Growing ordinances to BOS
... The planners modified the ordinance after receiving testimony from a member of the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office and discussions regarding the configuration of cultivated areas, the screening of groves, and the need to separate marijuana groves from certain public facilities such as churches, schools and established daycares. Approved changes included separating growing areas from schools and parks, setting minimum cultivation areas of five feet and additional notification to the Sheriff’s Department when a petition for administrative relief is filed or approved.
The planners then went on to approve the modified ordinance on a 4-0 vote, noting that they might bring it back in a year or so and revise those portions that aren’t working. Commissioner Tom Heflin was not at the meeting.
