A downed tree branch is being blamed for a power outage that forced three Placerville-area schools to close for the day, according to school district officials.
The Gold Oak Union School District had hoped to get power restored in enough time to get school started by 10:00 Monday morning at the three schools impacted; Gold Oak Elementary, Pleasant Valley Middle School and Gold Oak Arts Charter School.
However, PG&E was only able to partially restore power. So, school officials decided to send everyone home and cancel classes for the day.
All three schools are located on Pleasant Valley road in Placerville.
