Placerville, Calif. — During its April 23, 2012 Board meeting, the El Dorado Irrigation District (District) Board of Directors presented Albert E. Hazbun a Board resolution in recognition of his more than 25 years and thousands of hours of exemplary volunteer service to the District.
The Resolution recognized Mr. Hazbun for his tireless dedication, commitment, inspiration, motivation and ongoing support of the District which contributed greatly to the District’s efforts. “His true entrepreneurial work in the field of recycled water benefited not only the District, but also the State of California and parts of the world as well,” said Bill George, EID’s Board President. “He was a negotiator on behalf of the District with the California Department of Health Services, and was able to receive approval for a dual plumbed water system. He prepared and received approval for the District’s Title 22 Engineers Report for dual plumbed homes, which is now the standard throughout the State of California. He also served as a member of numerous District committees including the Water Master Plan Blue Ribbon Committee; Citizen’s Water Advisory Committee; several FCC Study Task Force Committees, the Integrated Water Resources Master Plan and Wastewater Master Plan Committee, as well as the recently completed Cost-of-Services Committee. Additionally, I applaud Albert for his common sense approach in every aspect of his work.”
The other members of the EID Board and many community members and staff made heartfelt remarks to Hazbun affirming his exemplary volunteer service to EID and the community. “I saw Albert in so many meetings over the years and he has been an exceptional guy to work with. He comes up with many different ideas. What a nice tribute to an outstanding citizen,” commented community member Doug Leisz.
Merv de Haas, former General Manager of the El Dorado County Water Agency, said that Albert also made great contributions at the County level as well. “During my tenure at the Water Agency, he was always helpful, had good suggestions, and had perseverance beyond anyone I know. He is an outstanding citizen.”
EID General Counsel, Tom Cumpston, commented that “Albert is an exemplar of vision. He always has the long range and big picture in view and is able to communicate that vision and stay true to the vision without getting distracted, and that’s not easy to do. He has taught me the importance of maintaining and pursuing the vision. He has made a lot of people better professionals because of it.”
Hazbun will also be honored with a bronze plaque, donated by friends and colleagues, to be placed at the El Dorado Hills Wastewater Treatment Plant for his many contributions to the District’s recycled water program.
