Yoga Community Comes Together to End Violence
This will be the 1st annual yoga event where yoga practitioners can come together to bring awareness to violence against women, and all proceeds will benefit The Center for Violence Free Relationships.
Kim and Derek Vanacore, owners of Radiant Yoga of El Dorado Hills became aware of The Center and the great work they do to help victims of domestic violence and sexual assault and wanted to do something to help. They started a “Good Karma” class that was held on Tuesdays and Thursdays and all donations went to benefit The Center. These classes are held during the school year and will resume in the fall, but the Vanacores wanted to do more so they began organizing the 1st Annual Vinyasa against Violence.
As the first yoga event of its kind in El Dorado County, Vinyasa against Violence will feature Yogi Diana Vitantonio and DJ Nate Spross. Diana is a teacher, storyteller, healer and soul activist who has the incredible ability to reach people where they are and helps them see their true selves. Diana uses body, breath, heartfelt words and stories as tools to remove emotional and mental blocks, so that each person may remember they are free. She currently teaches at Radiant Yoga of El Dorado Hills and at Yoga Shala in Sacramento.
Nate Spross, known for his flawless and charismatic DJ sets is no stranger to keeping a groove going. His musical roots come from the variety of underground and classic sounds he grew up with in the culturally diverse San Francisco Bay Area. Nate’s latest musical endeavor includes fusing his passion for yoga with his love for quality downtempo, house, ambient, and disco grooves. Recently, this has gained momentum and a welcoming response from the yoga community.
Vinyasa against Violence is open to the public and there will be plenty of free parking available. A donation of $20 is suggested at the door and no advance ticket purchase is necessary. Please plan to arrive 20-30 minutes prior to the event and bring your own yoga mat, towel and water bottle. Kinetico Quality Water Systems of Placerville has graciously donated the water for the event.
