Supervisor Ray Nutting ask Supervisors to Respond to State Fire Fees

Most of El Dorado County’s residents live within the jurisdiction of a local fire protection district already funded by property taxes. Paying an annual fee for protection by state fire agencies thus would be redundant and unnecessary.

"The state fire fee is an illegal tax which forces homeowners to pay twice for fire protection services. It is important that we let the Legislature know how the fire tax adversely impacts the residents of El Dorado County,” said Nutting in a prepared statement issued Thursday. ...
