Kathy Reichs, best-selling crime writer, forensic anthropologist and producer of the hit television show “Bones,” is coming to El Dorado Hills with her co-author son for a booksigning 6:30 to 8 p.m. March 21.
Reichs gained fame in 1997 with her first novel, “Deja Dead,” which became a New York Times bestseller and received the Ellis Award for best first novel. Her popularity still soars as her 18th novel, “Code,” comes out in March. “Code,” co-written with her son Brendan Reichs, is the third in the “Virals” series, books aimed at young adult readers, and features Tory Brennan, the niece of the forensic anthropologist made famous in “Bones.” The clock is ticking for Tory and her friends as they are drawn into a geocaching game in which they must decode puzzles left by a murderous Game-master.
Reichs uses her experiences as a forensic anthropologist in her novels; these experiences include her work teaching FBI agents to detect and recover human remains, identifying war dead from World War II and Korea, and assisting with remains at ground zero of the World Trade Center. She is a professor of anthropology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, currently on leave, and is one of only 82 forensic anthropologists certified by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology.
The event will be held at Face in a Book, 4359 Town Center Blvd., Suite 113. Books may be purchased at the event or in advance.
