Rosalee Shorter, 36, of Placerville, has been appointed to the California Physician Assistant Board. Shorter has been a physician assistant at Mercy Medical Group, Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery since 2007. She was a physician assistant in urgent care at Mercy Medical Group from 2009 to 2012 and physician assistant in general surgery and trauma at George Washington University, Department of Surgery from 2004 to 2007. Shorter earned a Master of Public Health degree from George Washington University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Shorter is registered decline-to-state.
Brown’s new appointee said she switched from dance to medicine because she had always wanted to work in the medical field. “You can see patients and have relationships, but you don’t have to go to medical school and I could start a family,” she said.
Shorter is married and has four children, all under the age of 8. Her husband, who has a master’s in Waldorf education, is home schooling their children.
