Our sweet mother, Jayne Harriet Baierski, left to join the Lord on Feb. 5, 2013, with family by her side. Jayne was born in Sheboygan, Wisc., on April 11, 1928, and moved at a young age with her sisters and parents James and Lenore Miller to Snohomish, Wash. After graduating from high school she moved to Los Angeles, where she met and married her husband, Robert L. Baierski, a Marine who served and was injured at Chosin Reservoir, Korea. When Bob died in 1963, Jayne was left with six children to raise, the youngest being six months old. During the following years she worked hard to keep the family together. After her children left the nest she called several states home, including Washington, Minnesota and Colorado, before she settled in Placerville in 2006.
Jayne was blessed with a bubbly personality, sharing her smile and joy of life with everyone she met. During her six years in Placerville she made many friends, playing pinochle and canasta, joining the Lions Club and selling See’s Candies and giving her all to the Green Valley Community Church by working with their funeral and food ministry. After joining the Sensational Singing Seniors in 2012 she performed last spring in Placerville and El Dorado Hills. Jayne was a loyal supporter of the Vulgarins softball team and rarely missed a game. She enjoyed reading, computer games — especially mahjongg — attending local plays with her friends and family and eating ice cream.
Jayne was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son, Robert John Baierski; and her sister, Marie Diambri. She is survived by her sister, Nicki Talbert; son, Richard (Tina) Baierski; daughters, Peggy Baierski, Kathy Davis, Jeannie (Ken) Covert and Cheryll Langdon; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held in Jayne’s memory on Saturday, Feb. 9, at 2 p.m., at the Clubhouse at Lake Oaks Mobile Home Park, 4280 Patterson Drive in Diamond Springs. All are welcome to attend. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Snowline Hospice of El Dorado County, 6520 Pleasant Valley Road, Diamond Springs, CA 95619, or to Green Valley Community Church, 3500 Missouri Flat Road, Placerville, CA 95667.
