

The South Lake Tahoe City Council will consider modifying its agreement with Tahoe Sports Entertainment for operation of the South Lake Tahoe Ice Arena Tuesday to allow the company to sell beer at the skating rink.
Last month, the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control determined the ice arena is not entitled to a beer seller's permit because of a California law that prohibits the state or “an agency thereof” from being licensed to sell alcoholic beverages, according to a city staff report.
Because the city is getting a share of TSE's revenue from the ice arena, including the proposed beer sales, neither the city or TSE is not allowed to hold a beer-selling permit, according to the report.
