Two races are in the books, as Alpine racers enjoyed a second consecutive Monday of sunshine as skiers and snowboarders attacked Sierra-at-Tahoe’s Lower Powderhorn course in the season’s second Giant Slalom event.
Ponderosa won both boys and girls ski as teams in a repeat of last week. The El Dorado girls boarders did the same and the Cougar boys won their first snowboard race.
Individually, Oak Ridge snowboarder Zachary Larsen joined three returning winners: Ponderosa’s Reid Lambres (ski) and Fiona Zeier (ski) and El Dorado’s Katie Harris (snowboard). Lambres won each race as a sophomore and junior and now his first two as a senior. Bruin Monica Zutter (snowboard) and Trojan Emily Vivian (ski) duplicated their second-place finishes behind Harris and Zeier, respectively.
Union Mine’s best finish was Brian Williams (boarder) while Golden Sierra’s best — and only — skier was Alex Murray who took fourth.
