New Emergency Department and Birth Center opens Tuesday

Marshall is pleased to be opening its new South Wing at its hospital campus in Placerville. The new Emergency Department and Birth Center, located in the South Wing, will be ready to accept patients into the new building in the early morning hours of Tuesday, Jan. 15.

In order to minimize disruption, the department moves are occurring overnight when the least impact is expected. The Birth Center expects to be ready to admit patients to the new unit at about 1 a.m. Tuesday morning. The Emergency Department should be ready to accept patients in the new unit at about 5 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Patients arriving during these transition hours should pay attention to on-site personnel who will help navigate where to go until the move is complete.

As always, the new Emergency Department will be the one hospital entrance open at all times. Women who are delivering their baby in the new Birth Center will enter the new building during day and evening hours (6 a.m. to 9 p.m.) at the South Wing lobby entrance, facing the existing hospital. The Birth Center is located on the second floor. Overnight, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., the entrance to the Birth Center will be through the Emergency entrance, at the rear side of the new wing. Expectant patients may call the Birth Center at 530-626-2638 if they have questions or concerns.
