The Rubicon Trail Foundation announced the fifth annual Black Tie & Boots Dinner & Auction, happening March 9 at the American Legion Hall on Greenstone Road in Placerville.
This year the event will be honoring the annual “ROCK” award to James “Jack” Sweeney for his contribution to the Rubicon Trail and the Rubicon Trail Foundation.
He has worked tirelessly to formalize the easement with the Forest Service and in doing so, kept lawsuits at bay. He, with the support of the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors, kept the interest of the public in mind when advocating for year-round motorized access on the Rubicon Trail during his terms as El Dorado County supervisor. Sweeney is an avid supporter of the trail and the Rubicon Trail Foundation.
Tickets are on sale now. Call Lori Warden at 530-722-7897 to reserve your spot. Check the foucnadtion’s Website at rubicontrail foundation.org for more information.

The Rubicon Trail Foundation is federally recognized, non-profit organization dedicated to the future health of the Rubicon Trail. The Rubicon Trail Foundation acts as the support for Rubicon work projects and as a liaison with local government organizations. This support can range from getting approval for projects from the appropriate agencies, to feeding the volunteers, to buying the supplies needed to maintain the trail. The foundation also fights the efforts of others to close or restrict use of the Rubicon Trail system. All funds raised help to enhance the future health of the Rubicon Trail, while ensuring responsible motorized year-round access.
The foundation’s officers and directors represent a wide variety of Rubicon Trail users and supporters. These include trail users, land owners, county representatives, manufacturers, and Rubicon event organizers. For more information on getting involved or supporting the Rubicon Trail Foundation call 1-888-6rubicon or visit the website at http://rubicontrail.org/.
