Dunnigan Man found Guilty of 41 Counts for Sexual Assault and Kidnapping of 13-year-old El Dorado Hills Girl

Enhancements attached to these charges were also found true.

Judge Stephen Mock read the verdict at 4:05 p.m., which took about 20 minutes due to the number of charges.

The trial took two weeks where the victim, who is from El Dorado Hills, testified and the jury saw two video interviews with her.

At least two jurors said the jury collectively decided to not speak to the media following the trial out of respect for the family.

Sigur will be sentenced Tuesday, May 1. His sentence may be higher since he is a convicted sex offender.

Nearly 18 months have passed between the kidnapping and sexual assault of a 13-year-old girl and the trial of her alleged suspect.

Dunnigan resident Jason Sigur, 36, a convicted sex offender, allegedly kidnapped the teen early Oct. 15, 2010 from her home in El Dorado Hills, where she was initially reported as a missing person. Yolo County Sheriff's deputies found the girl later the same morning in Dunnigan.

Due to the length of time between Sigur's arrest and trial, some witnesses are having trouble remembering what happened.

Currin, the girl's father, couldn't remember Tuesday some details from the day she was kidnapped. The girl is now 14 years old.

Currin's last name is not being used to protect his daughter's identity.

Currin's daughter brought her cellphone to his house when she wasn't allowed to, he said. The girl's parents are divorced and had split custody although Currin was homeschooling his daughter at the time.

Currin said she answered her phone and was talking to Sigur when he grabbed the phone.

"I told him I'm her father, she's 13 years old and if he contacted her again, I'd call the sheriff's department," he said.

Currin added he could tell it was an adult's voice by how deep it was.

But according to the police report from El Dorado County Sheriff's Deputy Laura Bradshaw on the day his daughter disappeared, he said he saw an inappropriate text message and then called Sigur.
