SacAnime is the show where “Fans Come to Play”. The philosophy has always been to provide fun, safe, family friendly entertainment at a reasonable price.
SacAnime began as an extension of the quarterly Comic, Toy and Anime Show (SAC-CON), which has been running in Sacramento since July 1, 1986.
Originally a strictly comic book show, SAC-CON has grown to encompass all forms of pop-culture entertainment, with a large emphasis on anime & manga.
In 2004, the manager of Walden Books’ Sunrise Mall store approached the founders with the idea of organizing an anime show to be held at the Sunrise Mall. Always willing to jump into the deep end without knowing how to swim, they gave it a try. Thus, on the last weekend in July 2004, SacAnime was born.
In January 2005, we brought SacAnime to the Scottish Rite Center, home of SAC-CON. It was a great success, with over 1000 fans in attendance. The following July, we returned to the Sunrise Mall. It was also a success, however due to problems inherent with a mall environment, we decided to move SacAnime back to the Scottish Rite Center, where it stayed for several years.
In August, 2009, due SacAnime’s continued growth, we moved the show to the Radisson, which gave us more room for our special events. As the show continued to grow, it is now at the Sacramento Convention Center & Sharaton Grand Hotel.

SacAnime runs Jan. 4-6 and features people associated with Japanese influenced pop-culture animation, music and entertainment.
SacAnime is open to the public and runs from 10 a.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Admission prices are $20 for Friday, $30 on Saturday and $15 on Sunday. An all-weekend pass is $40. Children under 8 get in for free.
The event will feature costume contests, celebrity guests, live bands, art contests, video games, karaoke and vendors. Products: Anime, Manga, Cosplay, Artist Alley, Vendors, Video Games, Film Rooms, Maid Cafe, Bands, Rave.
