Willa Leeson passed away at her apartment on Ponte Marino Drive in Cameron Park on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Barry Leeson; daughter, Cynthia Hubbard in Shingle Springs; son, Michael Leeson residing in Sequim, Wash.; three granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren.
Willa served on the Gold Trail School Board for many years. She later served on the El Dorado County School Board of Education. She was the first president on the board when the new County Office of Education on Green Valley Road was completed. Her name is on the plaque. When her husband retired, they moved to Sequim, Wash. They lived there for 20 years in the home that Willa designed. There she enjoyed gardening and joined the Master Gardeners. She started more than 150 plants per year for their annual plant sale. She and her husband also enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping.
Due to health problems, they returned to El Dorado County in July of 2011 to be near their daughter. Her wishes were to be cremated. There will be a celebration of life ceremony that will take place in early March so all family and friends can attend.
