Busted with 36 lbs of Pot, Justin Ortez told deputies he was from Shingle Springs

Justin Gregory Ortez, 20, was stopped at 10 p.m. on Highway 162 at Cemetery Lane. He told deputies he was from Shingle Springs in El Dorado County.
A man from Whispering Pines was arrested the night of December 1 with 36 pounds of pot in his car after being pulled over in Covelo for a suspected expired registration tag.
Justin Gregory Ortez, 20, was stopped at 10 p.m. on Highway 162 at Cemetery Lane. He told deputies he was from Shingle Springs in El Dorado County.
Ortez's vehicle contained 36 bags of processed marijuana, weighing about 36 total pounds.
Ortez was arrested on suspicion of possession and transportation of marijuana for sale. He was released from Mendocino County Jail on December 5.
