The number of people filing new jobless claims across the country dropped for the fourth week in a row, by 29,000 claims to 343,000, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. In contrast, California reported a giant jump in new claims.
The four-week moving average was 381,500, or a drop of 27,000 from the previous week.
