Chabot College will host a concert in memory of Elliott Charnow at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, which will also mark the second year since his death.
A well-known musician and teacher, Mr. Charnow died Nov. 27, 2010 at the age of 68.
In 1971, he began teaching music at Chabot College in Hayward, and ended his career there as Dean of Humanities, retiring in 2000. He and his wife Judy, who taught Spanish and French at Amador Valley High School from 1978 until retiring in 2001, lived in Pleasanton before moving to Placerville when he retired.
Chabot will also host a reception from 5-7 p.m. with proceeds going to fund scholarships for deserving Chabot College music students. Honored guests at the reception will be Mr. Elliott's family, traveling from Placerville, Clovis and Los Angeles.

Mr. Charnow was survived by his wife Judy; son Steve Charnow (Ashley) of Clovis; daughter Diana Charnow Gonter (Lou) of Placerville; five grandchildren; and his sister Sheila Alperstein (Glenn) of Woodland Hills.
