Diamonds Springs, CA - An AT&T utility pole that California Highway Patrol officers say "just snapped", led to the complete closure of Highway 49 in Diamonds Springs Monday morning.
According to CHP reports, officers responded to reports of a broken pole with power lines down on the highway around 3:23 a.m.
Highway 49 was subsequently closed in both directions from Missouri Flat Rd. and Fowler Rd.
Pacific Gas & Electric crews were called to the scene to remove the pole and power lines from the area.
A representative from AT&T said two phone poles went down on Missouri Flat Road on Monday morning, which forced the closure of the highway. The poles have since been replaced.
All lanes were expected to reopen by 2 p.m. Monday
