Placerville SHIELD program changes qualified age to 21 and up
The Placerville Police Department has expanded its SHIELD volunteer program to now include qualified persons age 21 and up. The SHIELD. acronym has been modified to stand for “Specialized Help In Enforcement like Duties.” SHIELD volunteers can participate in a variety of areas to include: vehicle maintenance, office work, traffic control, special events, National Night Out, patrol and vacation house checks. The SHIELD program provides members of the community the training and opportunity for challenging and rewarding volunteer experience in basic law enforcement support, serving alongside the men and women of the Placerville Police Department.
