Arrested: ESTEPHEN JUAREZ, Suspect in Red Hawk Casino Stabbing Murder of Gene Mcarn

Sgt. Byers at EDSO confirmed the person of interest in the Red Hawk stabbing has been arrested between Latrobe rd and South Shingle rd on Cothrin Ranch Road.
A man has been arrested in a fatal stabbing at the Red Hawk Casino Nov. 21.
On Monday December 3, 2012, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office received information that the suspect (Juarez Estephen, 33 years old) in the Red Hawk Casino murder that occurred on November 21, 2012 was in the Cothrin Ranch area of El Dorado County.
At about 10:00 pm Deputies were able to locate an address on Cothrin Ranch Road and were able to establish surveillance on the residence. Positive identification was made on Juarez Estephen who was at the residence. Deputies surrounded the residence and were successful in having Juarez Estephen surrender peacefully.
While evacuating the residence, an aggressive dog was able to escape from inside and attacked an El Dorado County Sheriff's Office K-9. The aggressive dog was shot and died of his injuries.
Estephen Rae Juarez, Age 33. IN CUSTODY.

19-year-old Gene Mcarn stabbed to death at Red Hawk Casino - Estaphen Juarez a person of interest
Detectives have identified Estaphen Juarez as a person of interest
The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department said Mcarn was stabbed at the Red Hawk Casino Nov. 21 at around 10:30 p.m. on the sixth floor of the garage. Deputies say the attack was in the casino parking structure after an altercation that may have started inside the casino. Investigators are using casino surveillance cameras to piece together what happened.
The victim was identified as Gene Mcarn, 19, of Rescue. Mcarn was taken to Marshall Hospital where he died from his wounds, sheriff's officials said.
The 19-year-old Mcarn attended El Dorado and Ponderosa high schools. He played football.
According to El Dorado County sheriff's Sgt. Phil Chovanec, deputies were called to the casino at 1 Red Hawk Parkway at approximately 10:30 p.m. for a stabbing. The victim's friends took him to Marshall Hospital in Placerville for medical care but he did not survive his injuries, Chovanec said.
Detectives have identified Estaphen Juarez as a person of interest in the case and were looking for him, Chovanec said.
Why the stabbing took place was not clear and the investigation is ongoing.
