Genealogical society president steps down but his name stays with the John C. Bronaugh Speakers’ Fund
The El Dorado Hills Genealogical Society’s retiring President John C. Bronaugh, and one of its founding directors, received an unanticipated honor at the society’s Nov. 28 meeting.
Dr. Gwynn Akin, also a founding director, announced she would fund the establishment of the John C. Bronaugh Speakers’ Fund in Bronaugh’s honor because of his valuable and many contributions to the society. Her gift will be used to continue bringing outside experts to speak to the society’s meetings. Dr. Robert Sparks, a member of the society, will ensure that Dr. Akin’s gift to the society will be matched by a grant from the W.K.Kellogg Foundation.
Bronaugh was one of the three founding directors of the El Dorado Hills Genealogical Society and has held the offices of secretary, vice president and, most recently, served as president.
The El Dorado Hills Genealogical Society educates people about genealogical research and shares expertise among members as they create and expand their family trees. The society meets in the community room of the El Dorado Hills Library, 7455 Silva Valley Parkway, on the third Wednesday of each month (except December) from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitors who are interested in genealogy and family history are welcome to attend.
