Folsom embraces the true spirit of freedom and the holiday season celebrating community and freedom with the sixth annual Chanukah Wonderland and 6-foot canned good menorah. Taking place this year at the Folsom Community Center, the community is invited to share in the Chanukah celebration that will culminate in lighting a unique canned food Menorah from 2 to 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 9, at the community center, 52 Natoma St. in Folsom.
Following the event the canned goods will be donated to the Twin Lakes Food Bank in Folsom.
Chanukah Wonderland, sponsored by Chabad Jewish Community Center, commemorates the first battle won for religious freedom. As part of the Chanukah outreach campaign, the Chabad Jewish Community Center joins thousands of Chabad Centers across the globe lighting public Menorahs. From Australia to Africa, Columbia to Hong Kong, New York City’s Ground Zero to the White House Lawn, hundreds of thousands will experience the joy and spirit.
In addition to using donated canned goods to light a giant 6-foot menorah, the Chanukah Wonderland festival will include games and crafts for all ages, music, hot latkes, authentic Israeli food court, and Chanukah gift shop. Admission is free; game tickets just $1.
More details and a complete schedule of the afternoon can be found on www.jewishfolsom.org/chanukahwonderland or on www.facebook.com/chanukahwonderland.
