El Dorado Coffee & Tea is making a difference for the Latrobe Outlanders 4H club members.
The coffee roasting business, owned and operated by the Planje family, has established a partnership with the Latrobe Outlanders 4H club for assisting the club fundraising efforts. This partnership allows the club members to sell select El Dorado Coffee & Tea products with a portion of each sale going to the club and allowing a continuous, year-round fundraising effort.
The more traditional fundraising efforts for the 4H club have been short-term focused fundraising such as holiday candy sales. El Dorado Coffee & Tea provides products which are purchased on a regular basis throughout the year. Fundraising by the 4H club provides funds for the club yearly expenses, purchase of project and/or community service materials, and scholarships for 4H members’ participation at various 4H events and leadership conferences held throughout the year.
As a 4-H global community service project, the Latrobe Outlanders is also partnering with El Dorado Coffee & Tea Co. in a joint effort through their “Project2Love” program. Globally the Project2Love program support women in coffee and tea producing communities through purchasing coffee bean products from women-owned small farms, education, and sustainability projects.
The Latrobe Outlanders 4-H club is participating in the education aspect through support of the “Books for Education” efforts. A portion of the funds (50 cents per product) raised by the 4-H club through coffee and tea sales will go toward the purchase of books to build a library in the coffee farm communities where children and adults have a very limited, and sometimes no access to recreational reading books.
