Yet even with the illicit extra property tax credits from EID, City officials take that several hundred thousand dollars of extra money...plus the 10% sales tax subsidy...and still further plunder the City's 2,800 water ratepayers with rates nearly FOUR times the cost of the treated water itself.

The City of Placerville pays EID the equivalent of just $130 per city residential water customer annually for EID fully-treated water...less than $22 bi-monthly. So Placerville water ratepayers should grill the City as to why the $75.26 they already pay bi-monthly...PLUS that 10% sales-tax subsidy...combined already is nearly FOUR times what the City pays EID.

The City's mark-up in rates is far more than costs for meter reading and maintenance that Councilman Hagan attempts to use as justification for four-fold rate differences. Of huge materiality, City officials clandestinely negotiated a cost of service principle-violating 100% crediting of property tax revenues from EID Directors Bill George and George Osborne...a bad deal for EID ratepayers who are left to pay 100% of non-recovered costs for Project 184 (which Placerville relies on heavily for its water), Sly Park recreation, and subsidies for 94% discounted Agriculture water rates.

The City of Placerville - to defend the jacking up of water rates, say they have cut costs to offset the increase. This is a false statement, they have not looked at cutting costs enough. First cost-cutting measure, make city employees pay for their own benefits, just like we do in the private sector, City of Placerville pays for the Gold Star medical, dental, life and disability insurances for each employee. Tell the employees to get off of welfare, we cannot continue to support their greedy habits, and they should have to pay for their benefits just like the private sector. Have you ever received an email from a City of Placerville employee, notice the line at the bottom the email that states "due to budget constraints" they have to take Friday's off. Personally this sounds like a pity party to me. And I do not care they have to take the day off, in as much work and leadership the City of Placerville provides, they can take the whole week off and save the City a lot of money. These city employees act like they are entitled - well they are not entitled, and should have to pay for their benefits, and they need to stop letting the employees "retire" get their retirement monies then come back as a "consultant" and get even MORE welfare money. The City of Placerville employees are greedy and have not shown they have earned the monies they are receiving. We need a ballot initiative that the taxpayers have no longer have to support these welfare recipients. If you want to see where your water rates increase go, look at their salaries and bennies, they are stealing from the City a LOT of our money. Why do you think their is so much blight on Main St, because of the water rates and subjective "sewage" surcharges are strangling any businesses' small margin of profits. Many businesses on Main St are still up for sale, because the City of Placerville have been raising taxes, licenes, etc so that businesses are setup to fail due to lack of leadership by the City of Placerville.
