Richard Jacob Brunner passed away on the morning of Nov. 5, 2012, at Mercy Hospital in Folsom, Calif. Dick was surrounded by his loving family as his heart finally gave in, and he slipped peacefully away.
A 35-year veteran of the K-Mart Corporation, Dick had retired from executive management 17 years ago and enjoyed golfing, cruising, playing cards and spending time with his wife Marilyn and his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marilyn; his daughter, Lynn; his sons, Richard and Robert; their spouses, Bruce, Patricia and Melanie; and his grandchildren, Lucas, Caylin, Griffin, Graham and Ellory.
Dick was born on Oct. 25, 1935, in Buffalo, N.Y., to parents Elsie and Louis. He grew up in Buffalo and met Marilyn while attending the University of Buffalo. He was drafted into the Army in 1958 and was stationed at Fort Hood in Killeen, Texas, for the birth of his daughter Lynn. After being discharged from the Army he returned to the Buffalo area, where his sons Rich and Rob were born, and where he launched his career with K-Mart. After moving back and forth across the country with their family during his time with K-Mart, Dick and Marilyn retired to their close-knit golf community in Cameron Park, Calif., in 1995. He served as foreman of the 2002-2003 El Dorado County Grand Jury.
