Offices closed on Veteran’s Day

Veterans Day is officially observed on November 11. If Veterans Day falls on a Sunday, they are closed on Monday November 12. A period of silence lasting two minutes may be held at 11am. On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 an armistice between Germany and the Allied nations came into effect. On November 11, 1919, Armistice Day was commemorated for the first time.
Some offices throughout El Dorado County will be closed on Monday, Nov. 12, due to the observation of Veteran’s Day, a state and federal holiday. Here’s a look at what local residents may expect:
All schools in El Dorado County will be closed on Nov. 12.
The offices of the police, sheriff and fire departments will be closed. For emergency calls, dial 911. For non-emergency police calls, call 642-5280. For non-emergency fire and medical calls, call 647-5250.
All branches of the post office will be closed on Monday, Nov. 12. There will be no mail delivery.
El Dorado Transit buses will not run on Nov. 12.The transit office will be closed.
All Placerville city offices will be closed on Friday, Nov. 9 for furlough and on Monday, Nov. 12 for the holiday .
