We enthusiastically endorse Richard Barb’s economic plan to create jobs and restore economic growth while returning El Dorado County to its tradition of economic freedom. His "3 R's" plan to Review, Reform, and Reduce regulations, taxes, and fees is based on proven principles: a more contained and less intrusive government, a greater reliance on the private sector, a broad expansion of opportunity without government favors for special interests, friends, or family.
Applying these principles, Richard Barb would:
Reduce regulations, taxes, and fees on business to increase investment, jobs, and living standards. We have seen that Ronald Regan's approach to stimulating the economy by reducing taxes and regulations worked and resulted in a broadening of the tax base whereas Barack Obama's approach of growing government has resulted in unsustainable governmental deficits.
Richard Barb understands that reducing taxes to stimulate economic growth results in increased revenue to fund essential El Dorado County governmental service. He understands that the majority of people work for small businesses, not government. He understands that government is a necessary “overhead burden” on economic production. He understands this because he is a successful small business owner here in the county.
Richard Barb has worked all his adult life in the private sector. He understands what it takes to make a business work and he understands the roadblocks that are built-in to our county’s regulatory and fee system that discourages business success and prices many potential enterprises out of El Dorado County. He will work to end the exploding growth of county regulations, fees and inexplicable delays in the review process.
Richard Barb understands the importance of home-based businesses in our county and will work to encourage smart development of those opportunities. He understands the significance of our “sales tax leakage” problem and how it limits the ability of our county to pay for the services that our residents want.
Barb will work to develop a governmental environment that encourages entrepreneurs and small businesses, increase regulatory accountability, and ensure that all regulations pass rigorous benefit-cost tests.
This year’s election endorsements by PRpond & In El Dorado County are based on the Economy, Ethics, and Responsiveness to Voters.
When we say "Economy" we are specifically referring to small businesses. These small enterprises account for 52 percent of all U.S. workers, according to the U.S. Small Business Administration. Success of small businesses are critical to the recovery of the economy of California.
Regardless of good policymaking, there is no place for a politician that will use their position of public trust to enrich themselves or their friends.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, an elected politician must be responsive to the voters. Too often, we have seen politicians that will say anything to be elected only to ignore those pledges made on the campaign trail and then follow an agenda that was not disclosed to the public during the campaign. The public has the right to know where a politician will take the office before they are elected and if they cannot be honest in their responses to the voting public, they have no place in an elected position.
These are the candidates that we are endorsing. You may click on the link to find out why we are endorsing one over the other.
