Timothy Alan Morton, of Elk Grove, passed away Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, after a long struggle with cancer. He was born Dec. 30, 1951, in Santa Monica, Calif., to the late William E. Morton and Mrs. Kay L. (Morton) Smith.
In his youth, Tim spent his hours surfing the Southern California coastline, playing baseball and fishing. After completing his commercial painting apprenticeship, he became a journeyman painter in El Dorado County. He founded his own commercial and residential painting company while raising his son and daughter and enjoying with them everything El Dorado County had to offer. In 2008, he married Corinna L. (Kozele) Morton, a Physician Assistant with Sutter Medical Group, living what he fondly called a “fairytale/gourmet life.”
Tim was a master fisherman and outdoorsman, and eagerly pursued a position as a National Resource Volunteer with the California Department of Fish and Game while he battled cancer. He took great joy in his volunteer service, inspiring others to share their talents with the greater community.
Timothy is survived by his wife, Corinna of Elk Grove, Calif.; his son, Troy Morton (Detective with the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Dept.); his daughter, Leah Morton of Placerville, Calif.; his mother, Kay (Paul) Smith of Diamond Springs, Calif.; brothers, Michael (Brenda) of Wimberly, Texas, and James of Diamond Springs, Calif.; sister, Diana (Bill) Schey of Klamath Falls, Ore.; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
A memorial service celebrating Tim’s life is being planned for Oct. 6 at 11 a.m., at Ancil Hoffman Park. For further details, please visit the Timothy Morton Memorial Page on Facebook.
