Standoff in Diamond Springs
Just prior to 2:30 this morning (Saturday 09/15/2012) the Sheriff’s Dispatch Center began receiving phone calls about a disturbance on Service Court in Shingle (Diamond) Springs.
When Deputies arrived they were advised that Joshua J Willis (28 years old) of Tuolumne California, had assaulted and battered his girlfriend.
Joshua’s girlfriend was injured but safe and was taken to Marshal Hospital for treatment. She told Deputies that Joshua was inside an apartment on Service Court and he had a .45 Caliber handgun and a .22 caliber rifle with him, inside the apartment.
Joshua did not respond to any of the deputies commands. While at the location Deputies heard gunfire inside the apartment. The Sheriff’s Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team was requested along with the Sheriff’s Crisis Negotiations (CNT) Team.
When special tactics were deployed with the use of a Sheriff’s robot, it was determined that Joshua had barricaded himself in the bathroom of the apartment. At that point Joshua surrendered and came outside just after 8:00 am this morning (Saturday 09/15/2012).
Joshua was arrested for Battery and taken to the El Dorado County Jail in Placerville.
