Evening Hangtown Car Show on Main Street Placerville
Michael Ocenosak, a member of the Placerville Lions Club, said last summer’s event drew an estimated 1,500 to 2,000 people; mostly El Dorado County residents. The number of cars in this summer’s event is expected to exceed last year’s 185 entrants, Ocenosak said. He already knows quite a few people who will be entering their classic cars.
“We thought that the evening car show would cater more to the local people,” said Ocenosak. “Our day car show would gather people as far (north)west as Fort Bragg, all the way to Minden, Nev., south past Stockton and a lot come up from the Bay Area.”
The money collected from the car show assist local charities, Ocenosak said.
“We sponsor the annual Fishing Derby, the Halloween Carnival at Town Center (in El Dorado Hills) and the Youth Assistance program for the city of Placerville,” Ocenosak said.
People who enter the classic car show will receive a T-shirt, printed by Placerville’s White Hawk Designs, Ocenosak said. The participants also receive a goody bag that consists of tickets for the 50/50 drawing and coupons from local merchants.
He noted that people who enter the car show can park their cars starting at 5 p.m.
Food and beverages will be served throughout the car show, Ocenosak said. Hammond’s Hits will play music at the Belltower during the car show.
