Placerville Grocery Outlet Donates to Food Bank
Grocery Outlet stores launched their first “Feed the Need” campaign, a community outreach that raises money in the form of store gift cards for charitable organizations. When the crew at the Placerville Grocery Outlet learned about this event and that they had a choice in which charity their local store would donate to, the choice was simple: The Food Bank of El Dorado County.
Over the past month, the gang at the Placerville Grocery Outlet worked hard to collect register donation from customers to help feed El Dorado County’s most at-risk children, seniors and families. The result of their hard work was a donation in excess of $1,300 to be used to purchase healthy foods that will assist the Food Bank in its daily distributions from its warehouse located in Diamond Springs.
The Food Bank of El Dorado County will use the donation by Grocery Outlet to purchase fresh eggs, cheese, potatoes and butter. These fresh foods will be distributed in the coming weeks among the Food Bank’s partner charities that the Food Bank works with to supply emergency food assistance to 8,000 to 10,000 individuals and families each month in El Dorado County.
Over the last decade, Food Bank Executive Director Mike Sproull witnessed Grocery Outlet making a difference in the local community.
“Rita and Lou Danker, owners of our local Grocery Outlet, help many organizations,” said Sproull. “The Food Bank is honored to be the recipient of this community outreach and will utilize the donated food product effectively and efficiently in communities throughout El Dorado County.”
