Susan Keale has studied art and art history with emphasis on symbolism and art as it relates to revealing positive solutions. She selects allegorical and realistic imagery that express insights into life challenges, mindfulness, and the practice of kindness. Susan paints using acrylics on highly textured canvas and illustrates using colored pencil & gouache on paper. Her work has been exhibited in the U.S. and Europe and is held in many private collections. Her series called Understanding to the Power of Feet was also published in a book with the same title. Susan earned a B.A. from the University of Northern Colorado in Visual Arts and an M.A. with honors from California State University Chico in Art History. She is currently working on a series of personal art journals that reflect joy and grounding. Susan lives in Placerville and teaches art in the Placerville, Sacramento, Davis area.
Susan's painting "The Kiss" is a whimsical play on Gustav Klimt's famous 1908 painting "The Kiss." Susan studied Klimt's composition, patterns, and colors to inspire her work.
