

The public is invited to comment on a planned 2-megawatt wood-to-energy biomass plant to be built 11 miles from Lake Tahoe.

The facility turning slash and other forest scraps into energy is planned for the Eastern Regional Materials Recovery Facility and Transfer Station at Cabin Creek, along State Route 89 between Lake Tahoe and Truckee.
The public comment period on the draft environmental report began Friday and runs through Sept. 10. More information on the environmental document visit http://tinyurl.com/blpplzo.
A public hearing on the report will be held on Thurs., Aug. 30, 2012, at 1:00 p.m. in the Granlibakken Resort at 725 Granlibakken Road, Tahoe City.
