Placerville Hanged Man Gets Temporary Reprieve

The Iconic Hangman above the old Hangman's Tree Bar was stolen, and then returned the next night.
Soon after the Hangman was reported missing Rodney Stanhope joined building owner Tim Taylor in press conference. They reported that the building was forcible entered the prior night and the Hangman was stolen. Stanhope said, "they stole a piece of Placerville history." The owners asked that the Hangman be returned, no questioned asked.
Placerville Police found him on the sidewalk in front of the building sometime later in the night.
Some locals suggested that the culprits should be "Strung Up" while others said, " A local tradition to take him and leave him somewhere else in town. Some things never change."
