MerryGold is Jillian Secor (guitar, vocals) and Alex Stephens (guitar, mandolin, vocals). Their whiskey-soaked folk/bluegrass songs take listeners back to simpler times and portray a rawness that embodies the pioneer spirit of the Wild West. In a style similar to Gillian Welch, Alison Krauss, and David Rawlings, this up-and-coming duo combines sincere energy and beautiful melodies to push folk music to the edge. They have an amazingly full sound, thanks to Jillian's powerful voice and Alex's intricate mandolin and guitar riffs. MerryGold is gradually adding new pieces to the band and the lineup is adjusted to meet the needs of any given venue. In addition to the songwriting duo, the MerryGold lineup can include bass, banjo, accordion, and percussion. Their latest album (“Good and Gone”) was released in February 2012.
