

This year a number of El Dorado County young people submitted art work for this juried art show at the State Fair. And they did well.
... Sophia Hill of Shingle Springs, who was featured in this column last spring, won a first place for her watercolor “Heron At Rest.” Sophia recently won the St. Francis High School “Young @ Art” competition’s Best of Show award, and attended the school’s art camp this summer. She also received an Honorable Mention for her watercolor “Pretty in Pink.”
St. Francis Troubadours Tarah Kubes and Amanda Luong, both of El Dorado Hills, also received awards from the fair.
Tarah won a first place ribbon in the Pen, Pencil & Printmaking competition for her work entitled, “My Support.” She received an Honorable Mention for her Pastel & Charcoal entry “The Lion’s Den.”
Amanda received Honorable Mentions for her entries “James Dean’s Porsche” (Pen, Pencil & Printmaking) and “Mountain Lake Landscape” (Pastel & Charcoal).
Sarah Shipler of El Dorado Hills won a red ribbon for her Pen, Pencil & Charcoal entry “Time Cat.” Sarah also won Honorable Mentions for two additional entries, “Christmas Tiger” and “Preditory Rapture.”
Placerville residents Grace Klas and Cami Young both showed that they can stitch it all together with their entries.
