

The Yarnival will start off with a bang Friday night with a full Country Dance featuring local folk bands. Carnival attire is encouraged. This years focus is on international and national yarn spinners and designers. They held a a competition and selected 8 artists for the exhibition.
The Yarnival will be July 13- July 15 on the grounds of the Boeger Winery in Placerville, CA.

They will have several people coming from across the country as well as Japan. While your checking out the exhibit at Pluckyfluff's studio you should also check out the display of the giant skein. The giant skein was last years theme which is a hand spun skein of yarn that is now 11 miles long.

The yarnival itself will be set up in the orchard featuring many artisan vendors with the main focus being all things fiber. You will be able to buy anything from raw sheep's fleece to finished items. Along with demonstrations there are activities for the kids too. They can bob for apples and there will be a petting zoo of fiber producing animals.

For you spinners there will be a 'big top' at the center where there will be a big 'Spin in'. Spinners are traveling from everywhere and will be seen making yarn at the center of it all. The activity is completely open for all spinners and if you want , you can buy the yarn right off the wheel.

Other activities to to look forward to are a slideshow series focused on fiber of course. The featured speaker is Vithard Villumsen a knit designer from Denmark. He will give a presentation on the history of Nordic design and pattern and there influence on the modern styles. You can also enjoy an fun talk about spinning themes from mythology hosted by Jenny Biscuits. Pluckyfluff will also be giving a slideshow on her work and talk about when craft becomes art.
This sure to be a full weekend of fun for you fiber lovers out there!
