Ted Long Proposes Doing Away with City Government

“If you start putting all those numbers together, pretty soon you've got a million here and a million there, which is basically going for the luxury of saying, we're a city,” grand jury leader Ted Long said.

City leaders argue there was a clear reason their government was put there in the first place,

“It's important that we have local control, you can talk to us. We're all around town all the time seven days a week. Dealing with Placerville is often impossible because of the distance,” South Lake Tahoe Mayor Pro Tem Tom Davis said.

News 4 also requested comment from el dorado county leaders, they didn't get back to us.

But long says they told the grand jury this is a welcomed idea, and they look forward to researching it more in the future.
